Processing gives the original amorphous homogenous mass of the glass compound significant characteristics, such as transparency, impermeability to liquids, gas, vapours and micro-organisms, sterilization and durability over time, resistance to all chemical reactants (except fluoridic acid and concentrated sodium and potassium hydrates) and low thermal and electric conductibility. |
